This is a simple starting point for painting or estimating finishing materials in a small room.
Type room length, width, and height. This formula uses 2×(length plus width) times height and subtracts windows and doors. A 4 by 3 m room at 2.6 m is 36.4 m². A 5 by 4 m room at 2.7 m minus 4.5 m² openings is 44.1 m² net, the number you paste into paint.

Wall area counts square meters for paint, plaster, or wallpaper. The formula is 2×(length plus width) times height, optionally plus length times width when you include the ceiling, minus windows, doors, and extra openings. Door height is fixed at 2.0 m. Window and door width and height use centimeters.
A 4 by 3 m room at 2.6 m with no openings is 36.4 m², one paint job. A 5 by 4 m living room at 2.7 m minus 4.5 m² openings is 44.1 m² net. A larger 6 by 4.5 m room at 2.8 m minus 5.2 m² is 53.6 m². Paint for 39.6 m² at 12 m²/L and two coats is 6.6 L on the next card.
Type length, width, and height in the header unit. Windows and doors are optional: count, width in cm, window height in cm. Extra openings in m² and the ceiling checkbox stay empty when you only want walls. A comma and a period are the same height, 2.6 and 2,6.
Paint liters from this area live on paint requirement. Plaster on 42 m² at 1.2 kg/m² is 50.4 kg and 3 bags of 20 kg. Floor area 5 by 4 m is 20 m², a different formula, with no wall height.
A 150 by 120 cm window is 1.8 m², which you subtract before you buy paint. Empty window fields deduct nothing. The ceiling adds floor area to the walls; leave it off when you only paint the verticals.
