Household admin hours

The calculator uses the numbers you enter: household jobs, minutes, and the limit. 8 times 30 over 60 plus 2 times 45 over 60 minus 6 is 0.5 hours below. People sit in the grid.

The calculator does not build a chore roster and does not score the home. Energy: extra cost of heating, cooling, and standby.

Input data

Enter household jobs, minutes, and the limit. You can leave the people count blank.

Optional context

This field is optional. The people count shows household-admin hours per person in the grid. A blank field skips that context and does not change the main result.

How it works

The calculator multiplies jobs by minutes, adds unplanned jobs, and subtracts the limit. 8 times 30 over 60 is 4. 2 times 45 over 60 is 1.5. 4 plus 1.5 minus 6 is 0.5 hours below. The people count is optional.

The main result comes from jobs, minutes, unplanned jobs, and the limit. People sit in the grid.

Second example: 4 times 20 over 60 minus 2 is 0.7 below. Third: 14 times 40 over 60 plus 6 times 30 over 60 minus 8 is 4.3 above.

The calculator does not build a chore roster and does not score the home. A comma in 12.5 is read the same way as a period.

Formula

Result = jobs × minutes ÷ 60 + unplanned × extra ÷ 60 − limit. At 8, 30, 2, 45, and 6: 4 + 1.5 − 6 = −0.5, so 0.5 hours below.

What these numbers mean

8 times 30 over 60 plus 2 times 45 over 60 minus 6 is 0.5 hours below.

jobs and minutes
Household jobs times the minutes of one job. In the first example that is 8 and 30, or 4 hours.
unplanned jobs and limit
Unplanned jobs times the minutes of one such job, then compared with the hour limit. Here that is 2, 45, and 6.
people
They sit in the grid. The people count is optional and does not change the main result.

How to use

  1. Enter 8 household jobs.
  2. Add 30 minutes per job and 2 unplanned jobs, plus 45 minutes per unplanned job and a limit of 6.
  3. Click Calculate. The result is 0.5 hours below.
  4. Second example: 4, 20, 0, 20 and 2 is 0.7 below. Third: 14, 40, 6, 30 and 8 is 4.3 above.
  5. You can skip the people count. When you fill it, it appears in the grid and does not change the main result.

Examples

Example 1

  • jobs 8
  • job 30 min
  • unplanned 2
  • job 45 min
  • limit 6 h

0.5 hours below

8 × 30 ÷ 60 = 4. 2 × 45 ÷ 60 = 1.5. 4 + 1.5 − 6 = −0.5. People sit in the grid.

Example 2

  • jobs 4
  • job 20 min
  • unplanned 0
  • job 20 min
  • limit 2 h

0.7 hours below

4 × 20 ÷ 60 = 1.3. 1.3 − 2 = −0.7, so 0.7 below.

Example 3

  • jobs 14
  • job 40 min
  • unplanned 6
  • job 30 min
  • limit 8 h

4.3 hours above

14 × 40 ÷ 60 = 9.3. 6 × 30 ÷ 60 = 3. 9.3 + 3 − 8 = 4.3 above.
