How it works

Swimming calories take a MET from the list, mass, and minutes. The formula is MET × kg × hours. Default moderate swimming is 8 MET. Seventy kilograms and 30 minutes at 8 give 280. The same 70 kg and 45 minutes give 420, because time enters in a straight line: 0.75 hours instead of 0.5. Easy 6 MET at 80 kg and 30 minutes give 240. Vigorous 10 MET at 70 kg and 30 minutes give 350.

People want to type 25 m laps, turns, and stroke. Tiles are not an input here. Ninety kilograms and an hour at 8 MET give 720. Sixty kilograms and 20 minutes at 8 give 160. Seventy-five kilograms, 45 minutes, and 10 MET give 562.5, 563 on the page. Sixty-five kilograms, 15 minutes, and 6 MET give 98.

The three rungs 6 / 8 / 10 do not split freestyle from breaststroke. If you know another table MET, type it on the calories-burned page. Cold water, current, and chop change the real cost, not this product. Cycling next door also likes 8 MET, on dry land and with a different list. The gym sits lower.

Optional Mifflin shows a TDEE percent when you add height, age, sex, and PAL. Session kcal still come from MET, mass, and minutes. Daily TDEE is another calculator. Water requirement sketches milliliters for the day, not pool burn.

The US switch converts pounds with 0.453592. Mass and minutes need values before 280 can appear. Type 70, 30, leave 8 MET, click Calculate, and match the example. Treat 280 as the order of a half hour at 8 MET, not as a promise from the locker-room scale.

Pool length, the wall clock, and the lap count stay outside the formula. What counts is time in the water and one rung for the whole session.

How to use

  1. Type mass and minutes in the water, in kilograms or pounds from the units switch.
  2. Pick intensity: 6 easy, 8 moderate, or 10 vigorous.
  3. Click Calculate. 70 kg, 30 min and 8 MET give 280 kcal.
  4. Leave the TDEE profile empty when the session number is enough. A day percent needs a full Mifflin profile.
  5. Lap counts and stroke stay out. Tiles are not an input.

Frequently asked questions

How many kcal at 70 kg, 30 min and 8 MET?

280. 8 × 70 × 0.5 = 280. The same 70 kg and 45 min give 420.

Does the calculator count 25 m or 50 m laps?

No. The inputs are MET, mass, and minutes. Turns and stroke are not fields.

Why do 45 min at 70 kg and 8 MET give 420, while 30 min give 280?

Time enters in a straight line. 8 × 70 × 0.75 versus 0.5. One and a half times longer is one and a half times the kcal at the same MET.

How do 6 MET and 10 differ at 70 kg and 30 min?

6 would be 210, 10 gives 350. Easy laps and a hard set are two rungs on one list.

Is cold water inside the 280 kcal?

No. MET 8 assumes a moderate effort from the table. Temperature and chop stay outside the product.

Does 720 kcal from 90 kg and an hour replace TDEE?

No. 720 is a session. Daily TDEE is next door. A TDEE percent needs a full Mifflin profile.

Why is daily water next to the pool page?

Hydration for the day is a different formula than burn in the water. Here session kcal. There a milliliter sketch.

Do pounds change the 160 kcal from 60 kg and 20 min?

Not at the same mass after 0.453592. A different pound number is a different mass.

Do freestyle and breaststroke have separate MET values?

No. There are three rungs, 6 / 8 / 10. Another table MET goes on the calories-burned page.

563 after rounding from 562.5. 65 kg, 15 min and 6 MET give 98.
