How it works

The international foot is exactly 0.3048 m. Divide meters by 0.3048 to get feet. A 1.80 m height is 5.9055 ft. A 2.5 m ceiling is 8.2021 ft. One meter of beam is 3.2808 ft. 1 ft back is exactly 0.3048 m, not an “about 30 cm” shortcut.

A door frame or a cabin limit is often in feet, while an ID lists height in meters. Type 1.80 and leave meters. 6 ft on a frame is 1.8288 m. A 10 m pool is 32.8084 ft, not a clean 33. One hundred meters of track is 328.0840 ft.

International: exactly 0.3048 m. The US survey foot is a fraction different, and we do not mix it into a beam.

Will the result be 5 ft 11 in?

You get one number in ft or in m. 1.80 m is 5.9055 ft. Inches come from the fractional part times 12, off this card.

Can height be negative?

Zero meters is allowed and gives zero feet. Compute a level difference on its own and type the positive value.

Does the switch rewrite meters in the field?

On an empty field it sets m or ft. It does not overwrite a typed number. The label changes, the digits stay.

How is this different from kilometers and miles?

Here you have a metre and a foot, for a room and height. Kilometers and miles are for a route. 1000 m is not 1 mile.

Why four decimals on 1 m?
