How it works
The calculator multiplies each grade by the ECTS credits of that course, adds those products, and divides by the sum of ECTS. Grades 5 and 3 with 6 ECTS each give 4.00.
Three courses, 5 at 6 ECTS, 4 at 4 ECTS, and 3 at 5 ECTS, give 4.07, because 61 divided by 15 is 4.066….
Empty rows do not enter the average. A used row needs both a grade and ECTS greater than zero.
This is not a converter from US credits to ECTS and not a 180-credit bachelor threshold. There are no A–F letters here.
The weighted-average page does not use this formula: there the weight only opens the result. School tests are on the grade calculator.
A comma and a period give the same fraction. 4,5 and 4.5 count the same.

average = Σ(grade × ECTS) / Σ(ECTS)
This is a weighted average. ECTS is the weight. Empty rows do not count toward the average.
How to use
- In the first row enter grade 5 and 6 ECTS.
- In the second row enter grade 3 and 6 ECTS.
- Leave the rest empty and calculate. The result is 4.00.
- To get 4.07, add a third course: 4 at 4 ECTS, and change the second to 3 at 5 ECTS, leaving the first at 5 at 6 ECTS.

When the weights are equal, the weighted average becomes an ordinary arithmetic mean. With different ECTS, a larger course counts more.
