Learning hours

The calculator uses the numbers you enter: sessions, minutes, and the target. 4 times (40 minus 5) over 60 minus 3 is 0.7 hours below. Days without study sit in the grid.

The calculator does not issue a diploma and does not score the material. Groceries: food waste from a meal plan.

Input data

Enter sessions, minutes, and the target. You can leave the course cost blank.

Optional context

This field is optional. Course and material cost appears in the grid beside study hours. A blank field skips that context and does not change the main result.

How it works

The calculator subtracts setup from session minutes, multiplies by sessions, and subtracts the target. 40 minus 5 is 35. 4 times 35 over 60 is 2.3. 2.3 minus 3 is 0.7 hours below. Days without study sit in the grid. Course cost is optional.

The main result comes from sessions, minutes, setup, and the target. Days without study and cost sit in the grid.

Second example: 6 times (50 minus 5) over 60 minus 4 is 0.5 above. Third: 1 times (20 minus 5) over 60 minus 3 is 2.8 below.

The calculator does not issue a diploma and does not score the material. A comma in 12.5 is read the same way as a period.

Formula

Result = sessions × (minutes − setup) ÷ 60 − target. At 4, 40, 3, and 5: 4 × 35 ÷ 60 − 3 = −0.7, so 0.7 hours below.

What these numbers mean

4 times (40 minus 5) over 60 minus 3 is 0.7 hours below.

sessions and minutes
Study sessions and the minutes of one session. In the first example that is 4 and 40.
setup and target
Setup is subtracted from session minutes. The target is the weekly hours you set. Here that is 5 and 3.
days without study and cost
They sit in the grid. Course cost is optional and does not change the main result.

How to use

  1. Enter 4 sessions.
  2. Add 40 minutes per session and a target of 3, plus 6 days without study and 5 minutes of setup.
  3. Click Calculate. The result is 0.7 hours below.
  4. Second example: 6, 50, 4, 2 and 5 is 0.5 above. Third: 1, 20, 3, 18 and 5 is 2.8 below.
  5. You can skip the course cost. When you fill it, it appears in the grid and does not change the main result.

Examples

Example 1

  • sessions 4
  • minutes 40
  • target 3 h
  • gaps 6
  • setup 5 min

0.7 hours below

40 − 5 = 35. 4 × 35 ÷ 60 = 2.3. 2.3 − 3 = −0.7. Days without study sit in the grid.

Example 2

  • sessions 6
  • minutes 50
  • target 4 h
  • gaps 2
  • setup 5 min

0.5 hours above

50 − 5 = 45. 6 × 45 ÷ 60 = 4.5. 4.5 − 4 = 0.5 above.

Example 3

  • sessions 1
  • minutes 20
  • target 3 h
  • gaps 18
  • setup 5 min

2.8 hours below

20 − 5 = 15. 1 × 15 ÷ 60 = 0.3. 0.3 − 3 = −2.8, so 2.8 below.
