How it works

Target heart rate in this calculator is HRmax times a factor. When field b is greater than 1, the calculator divides it by 100. 190 and 70 means 190 × 0.70 = 133. The result is 133 bpm. 200 and 85 gives 170 bpm.

A fraction stays a fraction. 180 and 0.6 is 180 × 0.6 = 108 bpm, not 180 × 0.006. Typed 70 and typed 0.7 at the same HRmax 190 both give 133, because 70 is greater than 1.

You type HRmax yourself. The 220 minus age sketch lives on maximum heart rate: age 30 is 190. The full 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90 percent marks from that same 190 live on heart rate zones.
