Taurus (Earth)
20 Apr-20 May β Taurus, earth element.
From day and month you read the tropical sun sign from one fixed table. Birth time, place, and planets do not enter.
Here the sun sign comes from day and month in the tropical table. This tool is for entertainment and learning, not fortune-telling or life advice. It does not replace personal, medical or financial decisions. Also try the Chinese zodiac, birthstone and moon phase.
Pick a birth date to see the zodiac sign.
The zodiac sign here is the tropical Sun sign: a day-and-month range in the year cycle. In popular culture the twelve signs from Aries to Pisces became a calendar shorthand for temperament, far from a full chart with birth time and planets.
We do not use birth time, place or planetary positions. The result uses only day and month from the date, via one fixed tropical table. That keeps the answer repeatable and easy to verify.
Ranges are classic. Boundary dates always map to exactly one sign in the same table (for example 21 March β Aries, 20 April β Taurus). The full list of all 12 ranges is in the formula section below.
Walkthrough: 15 May falls in Taurus (20 Apr-20 May), so the result is Taurus and the earth element. 1 January belongs to Capricorn. 22 November opens the Sagittarius range.
Each sign has an element: fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) or water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). The element is a group label, not a character grade.
This is not the same as the Chinese zodiac (12-animal year cycle) or the birthstone (month). The moon phase describes the sky on a chosen date, not a birth Sun sign.
Read the Sun sign calmly as a metaphor map, not a personality diagnosis. Popular shortcuts often cast fire as pace and spark, earth as practicality, air as idea exchange and water as sensitivity. Treat them as motif vocabulary, not a verdict.
Astrology schools may be stricter on cusp dates and use ephemerides. Here we keep a fixed day/month table so the method stays transparent, honest and easy to reproduce.
Use the calculator as a cultural guide: learn the ranges, elements and sibling-tool differences. Do not read the result as a daily horoscope or life instruction.
sign = tropical_table( month, day )
The element follows the sign: fire / earth / air / water. Year and clock time are unused in this version.

The tropical Sun sign from day and month using a fixed table. We do not compute hours, place or planets.
Not in this version. The result depends only on calendar day and month.
Each boundary date belongs to exactly one sign in our table (e.g. 21 March β Aries, 20 April β Taurus). All 12 ranges are listed in the formula section.
The tropical sign uses day and month. The Chinese animal (and element) is tied mainly to the year.
Prefer YYYY-MM-DD, e.g. 1990-05-15. That avoids swapping day and month.
No. The calculator is entertainment and education. It does not replace specialist advice or life decisions.
Tables can differ on cusps, and some tools use ephemerides plus birth time. Here you get one clear day/month table.
It is a classic group label: fire, earth, air or water. It helps compare signs in popular storytelling.
15 May Taurus (Earth). 1 January Capricorn (Earth). Tropical cusps, no time or place. Chinese signs sit on another card.
No. Type day and month in ISO. 1990-05-15 is in example 1. Blank is an error.
