Business Days Calculator

The calculator counts days between two dates. You can include the end date or leave it out. Saturday and Sunday, Sunday only, or Friday and Saturday can stay out, or all 7 weekdays can count. Holidays from the list are excluded from the result.

There is no official holiday calendar here. All civil days without a weekend rule are on the date difference page.

Result

Enter both dates. The business-day count will appear here.

How it works

The calculator checks every day from the start date to the end date. You include the end date or leave it out. A day enters the result when it is not a weekend under the chosen rule and is not on the holiday list.

From January 5, 2026 (Monday) to January 9, 2026 (Friday), when Saturday and Sunday are left out, the result is 5. There is no weekend in that range.

From January 5 to January 11, 2026 under the same rule the result stays 5, because Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th are not counted. When only Sunday is left out, the result is 6. When all 7 weekdays count, the result is 7.

From January 1 to 7, 2026, when Saturday and Sunday are left out, the result without a holiday is 5. When January 1 is on the list, the result is 4, because that Thursday is excluded from the result.

When the end date is earlier, the calculator counts the same range in calendar order. The same working day is 1.

There is no official holiday calendar here. You add more dates with the button. This is not leave and not sick time.

Formula

business days = days from start to end that are not a weekend under the rule and are not on the holiday list

The end date counts when the box is checked. The weekend rule is Saturday and Sunday, Sunday only, Friday and Saturday, or no weekend. A holiday on a day that is already a weekend is not subtracted twice.

How to use

  1. Enter the start and end dates, for example January 5 and January 9, 2026.
  2. Choose the weekend rule. Keep the end date checked, or clear the box to exclude it.
  3. Add a holiday in the date field. Add another holiday with the button.
  4. Choose Calculate. The main result is the days that remain after the weekend rule and the holiday list.

5. Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th do not count. Calendar days are 7.

What does January 1, 2026 do on the holiday list?

Do both dates count?

By default yes, when they are not a weekend under the chosen rule and are not on the holiday list. You can leave the end date out. Then January 5 to 9, 2026 is 4, not 5.

What if the end date is earlier?

The calculator counts the same range in calendar order. The business-day count does not change.

Is there an official holiday calendar here?

No. The calculator subtracts only the dates you enter. You can add more fields.

Is this leave or sick time?

No. Leave and sick days need a separate calendar. This page uses the weekend rule you choose and your holiday list.

Where do I add several civil days to a date?

On the add-days page. There every calendar day moves the date, including the weekend.
