How it works

Mass is cup count times the product density on 250 ml, times the current cup over 250 ml. Sugar 200 g, flour 130 g, rice 210 g, milk 255 g. One cup of sugar on metric is about 200 g. Two cups of flour are about 260 g. On US the cup is 240 ml, so 200 × 240/250 = 192 g of sugar.

An orientation mass from a cup and a density table. Loose flour, packed sugar, and 3.2% milk weigh differently from our constants. Humidity and how you fill the cup can move the result by tens of grams. Treat the calculator as a recipe sketch, not a shop-scale verdict. If your flour reads 160 g on a scale, our table still stays at 130 g per 250 ml.

The metric/US switch really works here: it changes cup volume and how mass is written, grams or ounces. That is unlike recipe scaling, where two stays two. The product list is closed. No cocoa and no butter, because we do not have the same 250 ml table for them.

Zero cups yield mass zero. A negative count will not run. If you do not type a cup count, the calculator has nothing to multiply. Half a cup of sugar at 250 ml is about 100 g. Half a cup of flour is about 65 g.

A tablespoon is a different measure and a different page: 15 ml, with no product density. A cup here is 250 or 240 ml, not a spoon. When you only want to scale 200 g to another serving count, open recipe scaling. Oven temperature is separate.

Rice 210 g and milk 255 g sit in the same table as sugar and flour. All four constants refer to 250 ml. US scales them by the same 240/250 fraction.

How much does one cup of sugar weigh at 250 ml, and at 240 ml?

At 250 ml about 200 g. On US 240 ml it is 200 × 0.96 = 192 g. Same sugar density, different cup volume from the header.

Why is flour only 130 g when my scale shows 160 g?

130 g is loose flour in a 250 ml cup from our table. Packed, damp, or another brand weighs more. This is a sketch, not a scale verdict: two cups are about 260 g.

How much do a cup of rice and a cup of milk weigh at 250 ml?

Rice about 210 g, milk about 255 g. On US 240 ml both masses drop by the same 240/250 fraction, so rice about 202 g and milk about 245 g.

How much is two cups of flour on metric?

About 260 g. Half a cup of flour is about 65 g. Sugar at those same measures is 400 g and 100 g.

Does US in the header only change the g label to oz?

No. The cup drops to 240 ml and mass is written the way the header formats it, usually in ounces. One cup of sugar is then 192 g, not 200 g.

Is zero cups allowed?

Yes. Zero cups of sugar give mass zero. A negative count will not run, so minus one does not make −200 g.

Why is there no cocoa or butter on the list?

The list is closed. We only have constants for sugar, flour, rice, and milk on 250 ml. Sugar 200 g, flour 130 g, rice 210 g, milk 255 g.

Where is a 15 ml tablespoon, not a 250 ml cup?

On the tablespoon and teaspoon page. There is no product density there, only milliliters: three tablespoons are 45 ml. Here 250 ml of sugar is about 200 g.

Does a comma in 1.5 cups work?

Yes. 1.5 and 1,5 are the same number. One and a half cups of sugar at 250 ml is about 300 g, and one and a half of flour is about 195 g.
